BME-ELTE Faculty of Informatics Building

We started to design this building after winning the competition for the Faculty of Informatics on the World Expo site. The failure of the Expo has accelerated the implementation of the University building, though at first we had to solve the problems arising from the change of the site (originally this building was intended to be built on another plot). The principle of the building on this unpleasant triangular plot is that the geometrical blocks (square, semicircle and linear) of the different, 4-storey-high functions are connected with lobby area on the ground floor with its roof garden.

There is a 400-person and 4 pieces of 200-person auditorium, a library, a club, a laboratory and a buffet located on the ground floor. On the floors above there are the classrooms, labs and faculty rooms located. The use of materials in the exterior and the interior spaces cites the architectural world of the old Technical University with its clinker brick cladding.
