The Bath of Esztergom
The building is located on the Esztergom Primate Island which is severed from the historic city by the small-Danube branch with its beautifully wooded shoreline walkway. There is a perfect view of the dome of the basilica from the building. A great urban development started with the construction of the spa. The city’s leadership intends to develop tourism in various ways like longer opening hours of the bath, new hotels and a higher level of hospitality provided for the visitors.
The of the design was to create an intensive well-functioning floor plan in a deliberately new 21st century building which goes into hiding in its green neighbourhood of the Primate Island with its unique forms. Its interior spaces provide exciting experience for the guests having a direct visual contact with the view of the Basilica.
The TECU copper cladding helps to contact with the above mentioned green surrounding reacting to the copper cladding of the dome of the Basilica at the same time. In addition the cooper cladding is quite a noble and beautiful material to emphasize the public role of bath building. Therefore the whole façade – apart from the glass surfaces – has this TECU copper cladding providing the exciting base character of the building which is like a huge crystal growing out of the ground.
